Brokeback Badminton

Did you catch the Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan semi-final match? A nail-biting affair that ended in victory for Malaysia. Right after clinching the match, LCW and LD both removed their jerseys ( revealing their lean physique, of course LD looked better ), embraced and exchanged sweat-drenched jerseys. I really wonder what the players do with those jerseys. Several scenarios came to mind: LCW hands LD's jersey to his coach who picks it up with thongs and gingerly drops it into a zip lock bag. The bagged jersey is then put into a metal briefcase and locked.  LCW folds LD's jersey and rolls it up. With the jersey poised over his open mouth, he gives a mighty wring... One month later, LD carefully removes LCW's unwashed jersey from his wardrobe and places it on his bed. He then climbs up onto the mattress and slowly hugs the jersey, taking in the heady scent... LCW and LD's jersey appear on TaoBao with several hundred other listings claiming to be genuine. In the foll

LRT Celebrities: Hello Howard

Image
Several of my readers were disappointed that I couldn't get a spy pic of Sorry Sean . My apologies. Hope this post will make up for it. As you can see, this spy pic of Hello Howard was taken before the LRT upgrade ( its still the old coach ). It's not that Hello Howard is exceptionally cute, but I just can't resist biceps. Some might say that there are bigger guns out there, but its good enough for me. And check out those thick lips on him-- high sex drive? :P.

Kidz in KL

Image
Kidz was in KL for his CLP exams so we managed to find the time to meet up for dinner. If not mistaken, the last we met was in Singapore when I down there for a short placement. That was in January 2014. The last he posted in his blog was in July 2014. Two long years. How time flies. KH and I brought him to dinner at Restoran Hong Ngek at Jalan Tun HS Lee. A simple dinner of fried pak ko , Thai-style tofu and deep-fried salted chicken. The staff were waiting for us to finish. Lee Chong Wei was competing in the badminton singles semi-finals that evening, so they wanted to close up early to watch the match! Poor us. Had to find cafe for drinks. Quite impossible to find any cafes open during time, so we had to settle for a session at the mamak shop. From what we heard, he seems happy with his job in the legal profession. Quite a jump from IT to law. And for those who are interested, he isn't seeing anyone at the moment ya... :P

Sorry Sean

Image
It was a usual church Sunday that was followed by an excursion to Empire Shopping Gallery. Felt like having Japanese that day, so went to Rakuzen . For some reason, could never get a table there, always ended up at the counter. I had an interesting ordering experience with a twinky waiter, Sean: Moi: The Rokkaku bento please. Sean: The bento has a choice of unagi, saba or salmon. Moi: Saba please. Sean: Teriyaki or Shioyaki? Moi: Shio. Sean: Very good. (1 minute later) Sean: Sorry sir, I made a mistake. The bento comes with Gindara. Shio? Moi: Yes. (1 minute later) Sean: Sorry sir, I made a mistake again. It's actually Salmon. Moi: OK. But make it teriyaki. In normal circumstances, I would have slapped him, but he was so adorable that I just smiled. Made a visit to Taman Bukit Jalil with the kids in the evening. So cute to see Little Monster run. His face was so flushed. When he got tired, he ran in a zig-zag fashion, like a drunken fly.

Science for Peace: Day Two

Image
On the second and last hazy day of the conference, there was no need for a coat nor a tie, so it was much better. More boring panels sessions that seem more and more fuddled with no clear relationship between science and peace. The final two sessions focused on: Forging peace through economics, poverty alleviation and inclusivity. Building awareness and consensus through conventions. policies, education and communication. Both sessions had panelists from the Philippines, hence touched a lot on the Bangsamoro issues. Hottie of the day was Mr. Kal Joffress  ( director of Tandemic ) who talked about an interesting way to track human movement between porous borders using telcos. Lunch was another buffet spread and I started to observe some really classic behaviour among some of our local academicians. At first, I didn't pay much attention to the weird Chinese uncle sitting at the adjacent table. Then he started coming back with plates heaped with food. I finally gave a good sta

Science for Peace: Day One

Image
Note: Mistakenly deleted this post yesterday while trying to amend it. Every once in a while, you get paid for doing something very unrelated to work. Late one Friday, I received an e-mail at 5:25 PM regarding a scientific conference titled Science for Peace 2016 and organized by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). My General Manager wanted me to attend and asked my reporting manager whether I had any critical tasks on the 15th and 16th. Five minutes later, I received another e-mail from him declaring that I had nothing important on hand and would be attending. Oh-kayyyyyyy. For some reason, my company was given two seats for the two-day conference and based on the e-mail thread I could see that many of the bosses found it a waste of time and declined to attend. In the end, it ended up on my lap. After my name was officially registered (together with another manager), I received a follow-up e-mail from ASM notifying me that the conference will be officiated by His Royal Highne

Looking for Poslaju

Image
Second Saturday in a row that I did not go to the morning market. This time it was because mum had a function that was related to the Hungry Ghost Festival. Many religious and business associations give out donations to charities during this period, in cash and in kind. So I sent her out to Kuchai Lama in the morning then stopped over to KH's place. I had a conference to attend on Monday that required a lounge suit, so I borrowed his. Hate to admit his coat fit although I'm more svelte than him. :P. We then had breakfast at Restoran Yoong Seng and proceeded back to my place for a more 'detailed fitting' of the coat. By the end of that session, it was confirmed that I fit him like a glove. Lol. After some resting and snuggling, we went out to Poslaju to collect my Citibank credit cards ( follow up story to come ). Made a wasted trip to Serdang because there are two Jalan Perusahaan 3 at the 43300 Seri Kembangan postcode. Annoying. The place I needed to be was at

Vought F4U Corsair

I was doing some online shopping and I came across a vintage airplane model. From the photos, I thought it would be easy to assemble so I added it to my shopping cart. Just MYR9.90, so what the heck. When the package arrived, it was just two small metal sheets. All the many parts were cramped together. One needed nimble and gentle fingers to get the parts out without ruining them. The metal was thin and very bendable. Had to be careful too as some of the edges were sharp. When it came to assembly, I had to make really small creases. The parts latch together via a system of small holes and metal bits. One had to be careful, else it would not fit nicely. Needed much patience, good eyesight, and a forceps. If you make too many bends, the metal might just snap off. Took me close to three hours to finish the model. So tiring! I don't think I will attempt any more models like this unless they increase the scale.

August Babysitting II: Glo Damansara

Image
The kids went to church with mum and I because their parents were still busy. Sometimes the kids are like angels in church, sometimes they are wound up and can't seem to sit still. More often than not, its the latter. The kids were already sick of Paradigm Mall, so I brought them to Glo Damansara instead. Its a new place just behind Tropicana City Mall. Very low key. Rightfully so because only ten percent of their tenants have started operating. Without their anchor tenant B.I.G., there would be no real reason to step foot into that place. With such a condition, food options would obviously be scarce as well. Ate a Ben's General Food Store which was attached to the supermarket. Although the menu was limited, just the size of a table mat, it was good enough for the kids. Enough for sharing, the meat lover's pizza was great with its crispy crust and generous toppings. After lunch, there was nothing else to do there except to buy groceries. A great place to point out i

August Babysitting I: Sri Petaling

Image
My sister and BIL had an exhibition in PWTC over the weekend, so mum and I had to babysit and give marketing a miss. The kids had a second breakfast of pork ball noodles with us. Then at 11:00 AM, sent Big Monster to his science class at Sri Petaling. Little Monster complained that his tummy was rumbling. He wasn't thrilled that we kept walking into shops and not restaurants. Haha. Truly did not know what to eat at Bandar Baru Sri Petaling. In the end, we went to 103 Workshop Cafe because I had free latte voucher that was expiring soon. When we walked in, Little Monster whined, "This place again?! It's boring!". LOL. Guess my sister brings him to this place pretty frequently. He was so familiar with the menu that he told me to order a plate of bacon wraps for him. In addition to that, I got a plate of carbonara and a pork burger. Normally, Little Monster loves creamy pastas, but I didn't realize that what I ordered was spicy. No wonder he shouted for water on

Coffee & Waffles

Image
Been quite some time since we met Gratitude. Managed to arrange a tea time session with him at The Coffee Sessions , BK5 on a Saturday afternoon. SK and KH were there too. Lots of gossip to catch up on, and also life and family issues. We all have our shit. After Gratitude finished his chicken pot pie, we moved to Felice Cafe a few doors away. A newbie in the neighbourhood. Looks to be a lesbian-friendly joint for coffee and waffles. Gratitude and SK were not impressed. Upon entering, they complained about the smell of vanillin lingering in the air. Tried their signature latte and a waffle with bananas and chocolate ice cream. No complaints about their Musetti coffee, but I wouldn't describe their waffles as good. Just slightly better than they type you get at kiosks. In the evening, SK joined mum and I for our monthly BEC gathering. This time it was held at Taman Bukit Serdang. Big Monster and Little Monster also came with us because their parents had a dinner party to atte

Kangkung on a Rainy Evening

Image
On a rainy Sunday evening, SK recommended dinner at Choy Hi , Puchong Jaya. Judging by the crowd, the food must be good. The places serves some interesting dishes. A popular choice seems to be the claypot water kangkung (u nlike the usual land variety, the stems are bigger ). Another interesting dish is the Bentong chicken bihun . It's a dish of bihun drenched in broth and rice wine, topped with steamed chicken and plenty of garlic and ginger. We also tried stuffed tofupok . The pork stuffing had a hint of dried squid which makes it quite aromatic. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised with the KR1M price tag. Here's an interesting dish on the menu that we will try on our next visit: Didn't want to go home yet, so we stopped for drinks at Fu Wah , a char chan teng type of place. I ordered a hot yuan yang while SK ordered milk tea. SK: One ice bath milk tea please.  Waiter: Hot or cold? SK: Ice bath got hot one ah? The beverages weren'

Naughty Nunsense

On Saturday afternoon, KH and I were presented with a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together. Right after lunch, mum went to her society meeting, so that gave us ample time to skank. Our last session was in May, so we were understandably horny. KH really hit the spot. Spent and sweaty, we snuggled in bed, showered then went out for coffee at Strangers At 47 . It was our first time there. Initial impression was good because they provided good table service. All the staff were young females with a lone guy manning the cashier. Started with a flat white and an affogatto ( ice cream on a rainy afternoon ), both of which were quite good. Felt a little nippish so we tried their crepes, one savoury and another sweet. For the savoury crepe, we chose Shore to Please, a seafood version with prawns, battered calamari and a creamy salted egg yolk sauce. A good combo. For dessert, we had the Red Riding Hood, which is their red velvet crepe. Didn't quite like that. Lat

Marketing on Raya Keempat was a quiet affair. Many were away on holidays and some suppliers were still not open for business. Mum didn't buy much at all. Got home earlier than usual. At 10:30 AM, I went over to Honda Service Centre at Equine Park to pick KH up. Brought him over to my home to hang out. Made him coffee and served him snacks. My mother made small talk with him. She even made him lunch of fried rice. Felt bored at home ( not like we could lock the door and shag ), so we went to AEON Equine Park to do some shopping. Not many shoppers there. Saw that there was a new cafe there, so we made a bee line for it. The new place was called Aroma Village , with a Nyonya Colours-like concept ( means the kuih is as small and expensive LOL ). Tried cendol and roti jala . The cendol  ( referring to the green worms ) itself was actually quite good, not the frozen variety. The palm sugar was quite fragrant but truth be told, it did not have the correct cendol taste. The coco
