Cowboy Corral

As it was the end of the year, the Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk Wilayah Persekutuan ( this was during the PH days ) had organized a "Back To School" event for the needy. They distributed schoolbags, school shoes, and school uniforms to the B40 residents of Muhibbah PPR, single parents, and orphans from the House of Victory. Mum and I helped out from morning till afternoon. In the evening, we had another event in church. In 2019, the theme for my church's appreciation night was "The Wild Wild West". All members of the church's various ministries were invited to attend a night of dress-up, feasting, and fun. Although mum is not a member of any ministry, I managed to secure a ticket for her via my BEC. A month before the party, I started planning our costumes. Sourced everything from mainland Chinese suppliers. The only worry I had was that the items would not arrive in time. Main components were the cowboy hats and paisley wild rags. For myself, I further

The White Party

Image
KH single-handedly planned a Christmas party, which I think was his first. I was very surprised. He event set a theme~ White! The venue was at The Narra , and everyone had to bring a gift. Guests came in three phases. The first were mum, SK, JJ and his hubby, Ban. Next came Mei and MiniMei ( her daughter Jaq ) who drove in from Batu Pahat. Last of the lot was Cikgu J and King, who were in very much of a hurry because they had a train back to Ipoh to catch ! Although things didn't run like clockwork, we still managed to have a decent dinner, complete the gift exchange, blow out a birthday cake ( December babies ), have a quiz with giveaways ( Nu Skin Korea facial masks! ) and camwhore ( raided the stage for props )! I would say that that KH's party was a success. P.S.: Ban was lucky enough to get MiniMei's first canvas painting titled "Nemo and Jellyfish". P.P.S.: MiniMei loved the Japanese style hair accessories that mum got for her.

SimonLover's Full Moon Party

Image
Once again, SimonLover hosted a dinner party at his place. A Mid-Autumn gathering, but without mooncakes. Ever the gracious host, he prepared most of the food! On the table was chicken rice, salad, curry pork, stuffed tofupok , and charsiew . The salad he made himself, the rest he got from Restoran Kong Sai , and TnR . I supplied a roast duck from OUG, and TummyFull brought wine. Among the guests for the night were JJ, Ban, Khatijah, ForIHaveSinned, and TummyFull. Towards the end of the night, SimonLover's housemate e10 also made an appearance. At the start, SimonLover seemed so stressed out with all the preparations. Gradually, he relaxed and we helped him the best we could. It was a great party, and everyone had fun.

Hospital, Clinic, Then Party

Piles is quite a common problem these days. I went to see a doctor about it a few years back and medication seems that have controlled the situation. Recently, mum starting complaining about it. The pain made her really irritable. The GP didn't do much for her situation. The suppositories were expensive, yet useless. Before the problem got worse, I made an appointment with a specialist at Sunway Medical Center. At 8AM, we were the first in line. The good doctor arrived 2 hours later. He did a quick scope to assess the situation and gave mum some options. We went off with two boxes of Daflon. Coincidentally, mum also had a quarterly follow-up with the gynaecologist, so I drove to Bandar Puteri Puchong. Just a very short visit. Finally we could have breakfast. Tried YOU Fishball Noodles, a shop specializing in well, fishball noodles. The soup was piping hot, truly a breakfast that warms the belly. Simple but satisfying. In the afternoon, mum went out to her society meeting

Jolly with Jasonino

Did my usual Sunday routine of church and Paradigm Mall-ing. Christmas decorations weren't up yet in the mall, but the retail shops are already displaying their Christmas wares. Lunch was at Phostreet , a new kid on the block. Felt some trepidation because it wasn't that long from my Viet Vomit episode at Lucky Quan. Hehe. Anyway, I was delighted that they serve pork. Tried their mixed beef pho and a pork chop rice. Must say that the portions don't quite hold up well to the pictures in the menu. Decent taste. But I must say that the sauces were very spicy. Mum and I directly went hunting for cendol to douse the fire in our mouths. In case you didn't know, Teochew Chendul has durian, chempedak, and white coffee varieties for their cendol now. KH and I had received an invitation to Jasonino's housewarming later that evening. His new place was located in Kajang, in an area that I had never visited before. Took us about an hour to get there. For some reason, I ne

SK's Birthday on 57

Image
In normal circumstances, KH and I usually have a long lunch date on Fridays. We would usually alternate between KLCC, Avenue K and Intermark. Or if I'm in the mood, I would travel down to Masjid Jamek. On the 19th of February ( which happens to SK's birthday-- more on that later ), we ate at New Shanghai Legend  at Intermark. The place was quite full maybe due to the CNY season ( saw people lou-sang-ing in English and not standing up-- sungguh takde feel ). We ate halal   dim sum there which was quite limited in variety. Nothing fantastic except that they serve a weird tri-sauce CCF-- chili, sweet sauce and peanut butter. Yikes. Then we grabbed a couple of flat whites at Grizzly . SK had grand plans for her birthday. If she could have it her way, it would have been seven days and seven nights of festivities. On Friday night ( the exact date ), she requested for dinner, and drinks at a rooftop bar. We chose Marini's on 57 for drinks, but KH warned us that the food

Sad Story,Sex Story, Food Story

In a blink of an eye, things can really change for the worse. That's how frail the human body is. An elderly man in BEC was struck down by ill health all of a sudden. Just a week before, I saw him at church, standing straight-backed as usual, cracking jokes with friends. A week after, he was shaking all over, looking confused and needed someone to support him. Turns out that he had malignant tumours in his brain, and they had finally grew to a stage where his brain function was impaired. Paid him a visit at his home in Taman Desa on Saturday. He was happy to receive us. His elderly wife and daughter took care of his daily needs. But its difficult on the old lady too as she is frail and has gout. Around the house were old photographs of days gone by, and happier, healthier times. Also memorabilia of his scouting days. In the following weeks, he would begin radiotherapy. Really hope that it would help. Nobody knows when disaster will strike, so we should not take our loved ones for
