V-isit

Image
Some three years ago, BIL's sister purchased a condominium at V Residence , off Old Klang Road as an investment. Recently, she took vacant possession of the unit and we were invited to go take a look at it. V Residence is actually located right behind Pearl Suria Shopping Gallery. The access roads are a little icky due to its close proximity with the old residential area at United Garden. However, things were quite good within the compound. Although not completed, the lobby looks pretty classy with a modern design and water features. The workmanship was also beyond my expectation. The unit was partially furnished with a completely working kitchen, done up bathrooms, and cabinets in all the rooms. Air conditioners were also provided for the whole place. Not much of a view from the balcony because it was blocked by Pearl Suria Residence. Oh well. Also checked out the facilities-- an infinity pool that ran along one corner of the building and a sky garden. Mum and I went for l

House Hunting

PBN , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Woke up early on Saturday to morning to have breakfast with mum, SK and an elderly neighbour who is my mum's morning walk kaki . These days, can't seem to sleep on after the morning sun invaded my room. Getting old. Ate at Restoran Yoong Sheng . They make quite a mean bowl of pork ball noodles ( quite a good kon lou too ). And they make their own 3JC. In the afternoon, mum went out to her society's AGM. I went out too to have lunch with KH and SK at Thai Kopitiam , Kuchai Lama. Getting there was hell. For some reason, the roads were all jammed up and to make things worse, there was a road block ner Seri Petaling. Ugh. Trust everything Thai to have their fair share of gay customers and gay staff. Took their lunch set of rice with basil chicken. For just MYR7.90, it came with mini fried fish cakes and a cold drink. Loitered until 2:00pm, then we went over to Residensi Desa for a viewing with a real estate negotiator. He showed us

Water Woes

Image
To The Roof We Go , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. For about one week, I had noticed a funny smell in my water supply. Whenever I washed my face, or brushed my teeth, I caught whiff of a fishy smell. At first I thought that the smell came up from the drainage pipes, but I later realized that it was from the tap itself. Did tests at all of the bathrooms in my house, but only my attached bathroom was problematic. That was very peculiar. Was there something wrong with my piping? Highly unlikely. Further tests revealed that all the bathrooms had a problem. It was just a matter of letting the water run long enough before the odour appeared. Yucky. Conclusion was... there's something very wrong with my water tank. Immediately my mind started imagining that several bloated rats were floating in my water supply. Ewwwwww! Started scouring the FB forum for a reliable plumber. Found a guy who would do it for MYR150, but the earliest he could come was the following Saturday. Gawd. Had t

Work in Progress

Work in Progress , swiped from Kevan on Flickr. "Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong" -- Sounds cynical? Pessimistic? Unfortunately it's kinda true. Renovations have started on my apartment and the problems had been many. Luckily I had SK to help me out! She's a life saver! First of all, the wiring in my living room was shot! The renovator wanted to charge me for fixing it, but SK talked him out of it. Amazing. She had introduced was too many customers to him to be easily ignored. Haha. Then three out of five of the Panasonic ceiling fans that were installed did not work. Have to wait for the Panasonic technician to visit. Ugh. There was some issue regarding the lights in the rooms. Seems that putting them on the ceiling would cast shadows as the fan spun due to the close proximity. So they put it on the walls instead. In addition to that, two of the three down lights had faulty bulbs. Ack. And now I have to replace the front door's knob. I tried to enter

Reno

renovation , swiped from Luciphoto on Flickr. On Friday night, horniness took the better of me and I kinda skanked past my bedtime. As a result, I only woke up at 8:45am, too late for the usual marketing. Fortunately, mum does buy groceries during weekdays so it wasn't critical to go to the OUG wet market. With Cyan in tow, we just went out for breakfast at Seri Petaling wet market. Ate a hearty bowl of fish paste noodles. The stalls were still open, so we went around a bit. Mum just bought fruits because the stalls there sold stuff at a more expensive price. At 1:00pm, I went to SK's apartment to meet the renovator. Needed to discuss the scope of work and iron out the details. Basically, I would be doing the following: Install grill Install air conditioner at the living room (35' of tubing) Install fan and lights Wiring for fan and light switches and extra power sockets Plaster ceiling for walkway to cover ugly air conditioner tubing Put up curtain rods Total damage is MY

Crackety-Crack

Image
Crack I Swiped from williamnyk . Remedial works have finally started on my brother's house after the contractor FFK on the first day. At least he's here now. They'll have to dig out the base and since the back of the house has no alley, they'll be going through the front door! Imagine the chaos, the dust and dirt. And they'll be reconstructing one side of the wall first to avoid making things too 'exposed'. Will have to temporarily board things up for at least a couple of nights. Ah, I guess we have not much choice. I just hope that the problem will be solved after paying the MYR4,500. The cracks are already so bad that rats can even squeeze through!

Meet the Neighbours

Fast track: Church->Lunch->Optical Shop. Mum's pair of multifocals were getting very dingy. The plating on her frame had disintegrated, so she decided to replace it. Apollo's sis, Eva was already resigning to become an air stewardess, so we decided to make use of her super discounts before she leaves. Choices were limited because drastic reshaping of the lens was a no-no in order to preserve the power of the lens. Eva immediately went to work and it was ready within half an hour. Went to visit SK's new apartment in Bandar Kinrara after that to monitor the progress of the renovations. Still quite a bit to go really. Discovered some kind dampness at the bottom of her walls. Hopefully it's not some kind of shoddy plumbing. Then we went up to my unit. One of my neighbours saw us and gave us a friendly "Hello!". Seeing that we were admiring their beautiful home, the Malay couple, Fir and Lin were SO FRIENDLY that they unlocked the door and invited us in witho
